According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime statistics for 2007, the Denver-Aurora MSA had only 365.9 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants, ranking the area as the fifth safest among the 25 largest metropolitan areas.
Most major Colorado cities saw significant drops in crime in 2007, following an overall trend of lower crime over the past 15 years, according to the FBI figures.
