June busiest month in DIA history

A total of 4,829,829 travelers passed through Denver International Airport in June, making it the busiest month in the airport's history. It was the 18th straight month in which passenger traffic set a monthly record at DIA.

The June number was 5.7 percent higher than the 4,569,938 passengers recorded during the same month of 2007.

With the June total, passenger numbers at DIA increased to 25,551,220 for the first half of the year. That was 4.3 percent more than the 24,494,191 travelers who used the airport during the same period of 2007.

Despite the healthy increase, airport officials continued to caution that passenger numbers could flatten out during the remainder of the year because the airlines are reducing capacity in an attempt to deal with high fuel costs.

Flight operations at DIA rose to 54,638 in June, up 4.6 percent from the same month last year. The monthly total brought the year-to-date number to 315,077 operations, an increase of 3.4 percent over the first six months of 2007.

The complete traffic report will be available on DIA's Web site.
