Top Five Job Hunting Resources in Metro Denver

by Tom Clark

With flourishing industries, a competitive work environment for young professionals, low operational costs, and the Rocky Mountains in our backyard, Metro Denver is a great place to do business. And with our region continually growing in population, it’s no surprise why NerdWallet ranked Denver as the fourth-best city for job seekers this year.

Metro Denver boasts major employers such as Ball Corporation, Lockheed Martin, DaVita, and Arrow Electronics, to name a few. And with an unemployment rate of 5.8 percent, the job availability in Metro Denver is plentiful. Top companies that are currently hiring include Exempla Healthcare, Dish, Banner Health, HealthONE, and the University of Colorado.

Are you looking for a job in the Metro Denver area? Look no further! Here are the top five resources that our region offers:

  1. Denver Metro Chamber Young Professionals

As a program developed by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Young Professionals Group connects those aged 21-44 through networking, education, community involvement, and economic development. Members have an opportunity to receive special discounts on Chamber events and programs, attend two chamber trainings, and access to the Chamber’s executive staff networking event. In addition, the group gets together for happy hours and major local events, such as the National Western Stock Show, on a regular basis.

  2. SCORE Denver

SCORE Denver provides counseling and mentoring for small business owners and entrepreneurs. With over 80 experienced business mentors, help is at hand with one-on-one consulting, cost-effective seminars and workshops, and business checkups for existing businesses.

  3. University of Colorado-Denver

With resources such as individual career counseling and a plethora of networking events, The University of Colorado-Denver’s substantial careers services department knows what it takes for their students to succeed. It even offers a certificate of employability to help students find employment in the competitive job market.

  4. Arapahoe/Douglas Works! Workforce Center

Guided by a Workforce Investment Board comprised of local community members, Arapahoe/Douglas Works! serves as a critical resource to connect people and businesses in Arapahoe and Douglas Counties, and throughout the Denver/Aurora region. This center offers an array of tools for job-seekers, including workshops for self-directed job search, training assistance, and one-on-one employment consulting. In addition to helping job seekers, the center provides businesses with workforce development services to ensure that the region remains economically competitive and boasts a skilled workforce for the future.

  5. Andrew Hudson’s Job List

As former Mayor Wellington Webb’s spokesperson and former head of public relations for Frontier Airlines, Andrew Hudson, also known as the “Prince of PR,” now works for the “bible for job hunting” for Colorado, called Andrew Hudson’s Job List. This must-go-to website is now viewed by thousands of job-seeking professionals and employers, with job categories ranging from advertising to technical. On a weekly basis, Andrew sends his job seekers a round-up of the week’s best jobs from across the state. On the website, Andrew also posts upcoming events for networking and dates for his Career Bootcamp.

While we offer many more employment resources for building careers and a healthy workforce in Metro Denver, this list serves as some of our favorite and a starting point for getting hired in our great state.
