Leading Medical Technology Company, ViewRay, Picks Metro Denver for Expansion
July 16, 2019
DENVER – ViewRay, a leading medical technology company that provides groundbreaking MRI-guided radiation therapy, announced today that they are opening a new location in Denver. ViewRay will add approximately 200 new jobs in the Metro region over the next five years including roles in engineering, operations, clinical, regulatory affairs, and general support. ViewRay also has offices in Cleveland, Ohio, and Mountain View, California.
ViewRay’s MRIdian enables precise and accurate radiation delivery driven by real-time soft tissue MRI guidance and automated beam gating. These features enable personalized radiation treatment based on the patient’s anatomy as well as the ability to escalate the dose, resulting in improved patient outcomes, reduced treatment times, and fewer side-effects versus traditional radiation therapy.
When the company’s leadership team decided to expand their team, Denver’s existing bioscience industry, growing population, and pool of skilled and experienced talent made the Metro region the clear choice for ViewRay’ future business needs.
“We are excited to be expanding and investing in the city of Denver,” said Scott Drake, President and CEO. “Attracting, retaining, and developing talent is a top priority for ViewRay, and our decision to expand in Denver was supported by the abundance of talent in the region along with the partnerships we cultivated with the city of Denver, the state of Colorado, and the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation.”
“We’re proud to welcome ViewRay to the Mile High City. Their investments into jobs and our community will strengthen Denver’s standing as both a top city for doing business and as an ideal home for mission-driven companies tackling some of our country’s biggest healthcare challenges,” Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “Denver’s strong healthcare industry, culture of innovation and availability of skilled talent will provide a fertile ground for ViewRay to succeed, grow and thrive here.”
“Our region’s cluster of bioscience industry leaders and world-class institutions like the Anschutz Medical Campus make Metro Denver the ideal location for healthcare innovators to expand their business,” said Chelsea McLean of the Metro Denver EDC.
The Office of Economic Development and International Trade, which helped ViewRay to access the tax incentives available to companies moving to or scaling within Colorado, stressed the role of our bioscience industry as one of the reasons medical device companies see such opportunity in our state.
“Colorado is home to one of the largest concentrations of federally funded science and research labs in the nation and boasts a dense talent pool and STEM workforce,” said Michelle Hadwiger, Director of Global Business Development for Colorado's Office of Economic Development and International Trade. “Bioscience products are Colorado’s leading export, and ViewRay is a great addition to this vibrant global industry.”
ViewRay is located at 1595 Wynkoop, near Denver’s Union Station.
